State
Police Arrest New York Man For $20,000 Casino Gaming
Chip Theft
ATLANTIC CITY - Attorney General David
Samson announced today the arrest of Bradley B. Vick,
25, of Rockaway, N.Y., who allegedly stole $20,700
worth of gaming chips from a blackjack table at Caesars
Casino in Atlantic City on Feb. 6.
Early Wednesday afternoon, Vick allegedly
approached a blackjack table at Caesars, grabbed more
than $20,000 worth of high denomination gaming chips
and then raced from the casino before he could be
apprehended by authorities.
On Feb. 7, Caesars' casino employees
notified State Police assigned to the Division of
Gaming Enforcement (DGE) that a woman was trying to
cash out $1,500 worth of the stolen chips at the cashiers'
cage. Caesars' cage employees had been alerted by
State Police to be on the lookout for any suspicious
chip redemption transactions in light of the recent
theft. The woman, identified as Chantel Cordrey, 19,
of Bronx, NY was detained by State Police. Further
investigation revealed that another suspect, Nancy
Cabaret, 23, of Elizabeth, had also cashed out a stolen
$1,000 gaming chip prior to the apprehension of Cordrey.
State Police were ultimately able to develop information
leading them to Vick's whereabouts. He was apprehended
early this morning at the Royal Motel in Elizabeth
where State Police, in conjunction with the Elizabeth
Police Department, recovered $15,000 worth of the
stolen chips.
Bradley Vick was arraigned in Atlantic
County this afternoon and is charged with theft by
unlawful taking (third degree). If convicted, he could
face up to five years in prison. Cordrey is charged
with receiving stolen property and has been released
on her own recognizance. Cabaret has not been apprehended.
