November 15 2018: The Guardian (11/14/18) and other media report on the UK Government bowing to MP pressure over the delay to the implementation of the £2 Fixed Odd Betting Terminal maximum stake. The cut in the maximm stake will be brought forward to April 2019 following growing rebellion amongst MPs across the political divide.
The chancellor, Philip Hammond recently announced in the budget that a reduction in FOBT stakes from £100 to £2 would not take effect until October 2020, following whih the sports minister, Tracey Crouch resigned. It is reported that a delay in the implementation amounted to a £900m windfall for bookies.
